"The act has become real; there’s no me anymore Forgot what I was, if I knew it before"
- The 7 Week Itch Rockabilly Showcase- Toronto Sun Aug 24
Here's a piece on the recent 7 Week Itch Rockabilly Showcse from the Toronto Sun.
"Tomorrow’s show features The Diamond Drapes from Hamilton, and Christian DeArmond doing a solo set.
“Anyone who has seen him perform with his band (The Hangovers ) knows that he dishes out a feast of hard-edged, raw sound that reminds you of Shakin’ Stevens-gone-bad-boy meets Nick Cave,” Gricken says, offering a spot-on description of his music and persona.
One of the scene’s most magnetic performers, the singer-guitarist says he just wants to “write songs and then burn myself to the ground playing them live. “It’s like a self-exorcism.
Hopefully, it’s entertaining to watch. If I leave the stage wrung out and barely able to speak, then I feel like I’ve done my job."
- Christian D's solo e.p.
Beat Up Guitars is done!
Christian D, frontman of Toronto rockabilly/ cowpunk/ rock and roll outfit Christian D and the Hangovers headed into the studio with no Hangovers, a couple of guitars, and a few songs. The result is raw and intimate.
Why an acoustic e.p. Christian?
"Well, for one thing, why not?
Mostly though, it's something I've always wanted to do. Boil songs down to the simplest form I could, and see what I had. These songs don't quite fit my vision for my work with the Hangovers, but I think they are pretty cool, and I really wanted people to hear them."
So here they are.
Here's the CD Baby store for this thing- should be on iTunes and other online stores soon.
- Devious, devilish and depraved rock and roll returns...
to the Cadillac Lounge!
The walkin' rockin' undead, the Howling Bullets are bringing their "Dracsploitation" sound to the Cadillac Lounge on Friday Aug.10th.
Joining us as our special guests are murderous rockabilly favourites, Christian D and the Hangovers (hot on the heels of their "Broken/Bloodline EP).
- Coming soon...

This was intended to be a simple acoustic e.p. You know, all singer songwriter mature period solo kinda stuff. But Downtown Sound has this cool little vintage amp that kinda sounds like it's gonna blow itself apart when you crank it...
- Next show Clinton's July 4th
Last night we played with The High Tides for their CD release party at Graffiti's. Great band and a great new Toronto surf CD. You can get it on iTunes here: http://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/desert-sands/id532276116
Next show for us is another CD Release Party- this time for The Re-Bops at Clinton's Wednesday July 4th. You can check out the Re-Bops right here: http://therebops.bandcamp.com/

- If the last E.P. sounded like...
If the last E.P. Broken/ Bloodline sounded like Hangover music for after the parties over ( which it must have, because that's what I said) then the next one is gonna sound like you waking up to me playing in your livingroom, after drunkenly crashing on your couch after a show. Intimate.
- Opening for the High Tides CD Release!
We'll be opening up for our good friends The High Tides for the official release of The High Tides' "Desert Sands" Friday, June 22 Graffiti's Bar & Grille in Kensington Market.

- I like to keep it simple...
When it comes to music I like to keep it simple. Like Harlan Howard said "three chords and the truth."
Or maybe just two chords and some intriguing lies...
- Next show May 25th back to the Cadillac Lounge!
The art auction at the Press Club was a tremendous success. Lots of money raised for Habitat for Humanity!
Next up for the Hangovers - we'll be returning to Toronto's spiritual home of rock and roll Friday May 25th for two sets of rock and roll on the patio!

- May 3rd at the Press Club
Art Auction for Africa- As some of you know Karen Oh is fundraising to be part of a Habitat for Humanity build in Mulanje, Malawi this summer. To help raise money we have gathered artists from different areas of Canada and the world to donate art pieces for a silent auction. This is an exiting opportunity to see different artists and mediums from places like South Africa, Germany, Texas, California, Halifax, Montreal as well as many amazing local artists from the GTA.
The night will also include raffles to win surprises and other goodies! The art show starts at 7, wine and vegan treats will be served. Music provided by Christian D and The Hangovers starts at 10. $5 cover (or pay what you can) after 10pm.
Silent auction for all art pieces will run from 7pm-12am. All art pieces will remain on display at The Press Club for the month of May and then be delivered to the winning bid on June 1st.
***Absolutely all proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity.***
The evening is sure to be packed with fun and those warm fuzzy feelings of helping out! We hope to see you all there!
- I don't play rock and roll...
"I don't play rock and roll. The rock and roll plays me."
~Christian

- Free - or pay what you want!
From now until our show at the Garrison you can grab Blame it on Your Bloodline just click the link.
We've never played it live -and Friday will be it's first night out!
- There's new songs on our Bandcamp page
2 songs about blame and heartbreak... A little darker than the last CD maybe. Instead of music from a drunken bar band, this is more like Hangover music for after the party's over.
So here's the new digital single, or double digital download or whatever the hell you would call 2 songs bundled together in the digital world.
Right now it's available on the Bandcamp site, for 99 cents, for the songs and a pdf download of liner notes/ lyrics. We'll be putting up on iTunes soon, but this is the cheaper option, with extras...because you're getting them right from us.
Go on check it out here: http://christiand.bandcamp.com/

- at the Bovine Friday Feb 3rd
Next show - we're back at the Bovine with The Blue Demons and Aunt Beazy!

Drum tracks done on two new songs. Here's Tim getting ready to do his thing.

- new youtube channel!
So we set up a new youtube channel, ChristianDMusic's Channel and the first thing I did was to try to do an arty black and white thing on my iphone.
Go check it out if you dare, and please subscribe to the channel, and let us know if you have any video or pics of the Hangovers in action that you might like to share...
